  2. Enter your destination and dates, then select "Reward Nights" as the rate preference before you search.

Points & Cash and Cancellation Basics

Points & Cash gives US travelers a flexible way to book a Reward Night when their point balance falls short. With this option, the cash portion is the immediate purchase of additional points toward the Reward Night. You still need at least 5,000 points in your account to redeem a Reward Night or to use Points & Cash.

If a Points & Cash Reward Night is cancelled in line with the terms and the hotel policy, all points, including the purchased points, are redeposited into your IHG One Rewards account. The cash paid for those purchased points is non-refundable.

Reward Night reservations can be cancelled before the cancellation time set by the hotel. When the booking is cancelled in line with the terms and the hotel's cancellation policy, the points are redeposited.

Because Reward Night point prices vary by brand, hotel and day of week with no fixed award chart, it is worth checking the specific rate details for each property before you confirm. This approach lets members redeem Reward Nights faster by combining existing points with a cash purchase of the remainder. Fourth-Night-Free Benefit

Certain Chase IHG One Rewards credit cards let us get the fourth Reward Night free on point stays of four or more consecutive nights.

The IHG One Rewards Premier, Premier Select and Business credit cards from Chase give the fourth Reward Night free when redeeming points for a stay of four or more consecutive nights. The free night applies automatically when we search and book Reward Nights of that length while logged in to an account linked to one of these cards.

On the IHG One Rewards Credit Card from Chase, the fourth-night-free benefit requires $5,000 in annual spend starting in 2027. After that spend in a calendar year, the benefit is available for the remainder of that year and the next calendar year.

This benefit works only for points redemptions of consecutive nights, not for paid stays. We can read more about these cards in our IHG Premier Select card launch and IHG card refresh article.

Earning Points and Key Rules

Chase Ultimate Rewards points and Bilt Rewards points transfer to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio. US travelers can move points from those programs into IHG for Reward Night bookings.

Members do not earn points on the room rate of a Reward Night stay but may earn on other eligible charges. Reward Nights count toward elite status even without room-rate points.

Guaranteed Room Availability for Platinum and Diamond Elite members does not apply to Reward Nights.

Review transfer partners on our Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partners page and the Bilt Rewards update. Transfer timing across programs is covered in the points transfer times guide.
