This Privacy Policy explains how Roaming Cactus (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you visit https://roamingcactus.com or engage with our luxury travel, points & miles, and credit card content. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with all applicable laws, including Google AdSense requirements and 2026 U.S. state privacy regulations.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide: We never collect financial information or sensitive personal data. If you use the contact form, you send your name, email address, subject, and message to Web3Forms. Web3Forms emails that message to us. That form also asks you to complete an hCaptcha check before it sends. You can also write to us at joe@roamingcactus.com, or start from the contact page. If you use a weekly tip signup, you send your email address, and your first name if you type one, to Buttondown. Buttondown stores that list and sends the weekly tip. You can unsubscribe from the link in any issue, or email joe@roamingcactus.com and we will ask Buttondown to remove you.

Automatically Collected Information: When you visit our site, we and the services listed below automatically collect log data including your IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, referring URLs, and pages viewed. This data helps us understand site usage, deliver the site, and show ads.

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-ZZXCV8PF5S) to collect usage statistics. In Europe, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics stays off until you answer Google’s consent message.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve our website, deliver relevant luxury travel and points & miles content, analyze traffic patterns, and serve advertisements through Google AdSense, including personalized ads when your settings and consent choices allow them. We do not use your data for any purpose other than those described in this policy.

Some posts include affiliate links and, on some older posts, embedded travel widgets. Two posts include an American Express referral link. If you click a link or use a widget and complete a qualifying booking, purchase, or application, we may earn a commission or a referral bonus. The programs those links and widgets use are named in Third parties we use. We do not send those partners a separate copy of your name or email. The link or widget itself can tell them that you came from this site.

Third parties we use

These are the third parties this site actually loads or links in a way that can receive information about your visit. Each one gets what it needs to do its job, such as your IP address, browser details, and the page you requested.

  • Google AdSense and Google ad services. Ads, advertising cookies, and personalized ads, as described under Advertising. The ad script is loaded from Google (pagead2.googlesyndication.com).
  • Google Analytics 4. Usage measurement, measurement ID G-ZZXCV8PF5S, loaded through Google’s tag (googletagmanager.com).
  • Google consent and privacy messages. The same Google ad tag asks visitors in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland before ads or analytics run. Ads and analytics stay off until they choose. We do not load a separate consent vendor. A US state privacy message, if you see one, is Google’s, not a tool we added.
  • Cloudinary. Article and profile images are often loaded from res.cloudinary.com.
  • Cloudflare. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which delivers the pages and keeps ordinary request logs. Icons are included in the page. If a page loads an icon stylesheet, that file is Font Awesome from cdnjs.cloudflare.com.
  • Stay22. Hotel-booking links go to booking.stay22.com. On some pages that contain those links, a script from scripts.stay22.com may load. It may load when the page opens, or only after you tap, scroll, or the link is near the screen.
  • Expedia. Some posts link to Expedia affiliate URLs on expedia.com.
  • CJ Affiliate and Seats.aero. Award-search buttons use CJ Affiliate links on anrdoezrs.net and are labeled Seats.aero. One article also links directly to Seats.aero.
  • Travelpayouts. Some posts embed hotel widgets from tp.media and tpwdg.com.
  • Amazon. A few older posts link to Amazon. Some product links include an Associates tag (tag=roaming.cactus-20). Other links go to the storefront amazon.com/shop/roaming.cactus and do not include that tag. Amazon can tell that the click came from this site. This page does not confirm that an Associates account is currently earning commissions.
  • American Express referral. Two posts link to an American Express referral URL (americanexpress.com, with a ref= code). If you apply through that link, we may earn a referral bonus. American Express can tell that the click came from this site.
  • YouTube. One lounge review embeds YouTube videos. YouTube can set cookies when those videos load. A link to our YouTube channel in the site footer does not load a video by itself.
  • RewardTracker.io. The header, footer, About page, credit cards hub, and some posts link to RewardTracker.io, a credit journal we operate. That site loads only if you follow the link.
  • Web3Forms. The contact form sends your name, email address, subject, and message to Web3Forms. Web3Forms is the service that handles those messages and emails them to us.
  • hCaptcha. The contact page loads hCaptcha from js.hcaptcha.com. hCaptcha checks that a person sent the message. It can receive your IP address and browser details when you complete that check.
  • Buttondown. The weekly tip signup sends your email address, and your first name if you type one, to Buttondown (buttondown.com). Buttondown stores the list and sends the email. The form posts straight to Buttondown. This site does not keep a separate copy of that signup.

Bankrate and FlexOffers are not loaded on this site, and no page links to them. Some older articles still mention those names in the text.

Your choices

  • Personalized ads. Opt out in Google Ads Settings, and use aboutads.info for participating companies.
  • Cookies and consent. Use your browser’s cookie settings. If you are in Europe, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google asks first: use that message to accept or reject, and ads and analytics stay off until you choose. Visitors elsewhere are unaffected and do not see that message. If Google shows a US state privacy message, you can use that message too. We do not add a separate consent tool.
  • Questions and privacy requests. Use the contact page or email joe@roamingcactus.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line.
  • Weekly tip. Use the unsubscribe link in any issue, or email joe@roamingcactus.com and we will ask Buttondown to remove you.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. The companies named above receive information when their tools run on this site or when you follow a link to them. We do not sell that information.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of the processing or sharing of your personal data under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia CDPA, and the new 2026 comprehensive privacy laws in Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and other states.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell data. You may submit a request to opt out of any sharing for targeted advertising through the contact page or the email below. We honor all valid requests within the legally required timeframe.

Children’s Privacy

Our site is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. We retain data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law.
