Blue Sky is a loyalty collaboration between United Airlines and JetBlue. As of Oct 12, 2026, it is an interline agreement, not a codeshare, so each airline still publishes and markets its own flights. What it adds is a way for each program's members to earn, redeem and, for elites, get perks on the other airline.

MileagePlus members earn miles on most JetBlue-operated flights by adding their MileagePlus number to the reservation, and TrueBlue members earn points and tiles on United-operated flights by booking on JetBlue.com or the JetBlue app while logged in. Members of both programs redeem their own currency for eligible partner flights through their own airline's booking channels. This guide covers when each piece started, the earn rates, booking, elite benefits, what the pages say about United cards, and the Chase transfer path.

At a Glance

  • Timeline: reciprocal earning and redemption launched October 23, 2025; booking eligible itineraries on each other's websites and apps began the week of February 10, 2026; reciprocal elite benefits began the week of May 14, 2026.
  • United miles on JetBlue: general MileagePlus members earn 3 miles per dollar on eligible JetBlue fares on or after April 2, 2026, or 6 with eligible United cardmember status.
  • TrueBlue points on United: 5x points on the pre-tax flight fare and carrier-imposed surcharges.
  • Elites: eligible Premier and Mosaic members receive a free checked bag and priority boarding on the partner airline.
  • Balances: TrueBlue points cannot be transferred directly to MileagePlus; balances remain separate.

Blue Sky earning rules, elite benefits, booking options and transfer partners can change, so check the United, JetBlue and Chase pages before you book or transfer.

Real-World Examples

  • A TrueBlue member connecting from a JetBlue flight to a United flight: JetBlue says connecting itineraries that mix JetBlue-operated and United-operated flights can't be booked together, so book two separate itineraries, as of Oct 12, 2026.
  • A TrueBlue award on United whose plans change: JetBlue says date, time and routing changes aren't permitted, but the award can be cancelled before the first flight departs; points are redeposited and taxes come back as a JetBlue travel credit.
  • A Mosaic member flying United: booked through JetBlue while logged in, the flight earns TrueBlue points and tiles and can count toward Mosaic status, with a free checked bag and priority boarding if the TrueBlue number is on the booking.

Earning United MileagePlus Miles on JetBlue Flights

Per United, as of Oct 12, 2026, MileagePlus members can earn miles on most JetBlue-operated flights by adding their MileagePlus number to the reservation. Flights completed before October 23, 2025, do not earn.

Rates are earned on the fare price. On Basic Economy or JetBlue Blue Basic fares, rates are lower, and general members without an eligible United card are not eligible to earn miles.

Earning TrueBlue Points and Tiles on United Flights

Booking Flights Across Both Airlines

Traveler arrives at the departure curb in the early morning with a carry-on suitcase and a folded jacket.

Members of both programs can redeem their currency for eligible flights on the partner airline through their own airline's booking channels. Since the week of February 10, 2026, eligible itineraries operated by either airline can be booked with cash, miles or points on each other's websites and mobile apps.

Because Blue Sky is an interline agreement rather than a codeshare, a flight is still sold and marketed by the airline that operates it. United’s non-flight travel products are now sold as MileagePlus Travel, which its terms page describes as a service offered by JetBlue’s Paisly, LLC.

Elite Benefits on the Partner Airline

Reciprocal elite benefits began the week of May 14, 2026. The benefits require the loyalty number on the booking, and JetBlue says benefits vary by status tier and operating airline.

United Credit Card Benefits on JetBlue Flights

United says Premier members can access benefits on JetBlue flights, though they are not the exact same as on United.

Where the card does matter is earning: eligible United cardmember status raises the MileagePlus earn rate on eligible JetBlue flights, as shown in the earning table above. For the United card lineup, see our United credit cards comparison.

Transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

Chase Ultimate Rewards lists both United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue as transfer partners as of Oct 12, 2026. Chase’s Sapphire Preferred page says Ultimate Rewards points “transfer to most travel partners at a rate of 1:1”; check the transfer screen for the rate before you move points.

For the full Chase partner list, see our Chase Ultimate Rewards partners guide.

Keeping Miles and Points Separate

Blue Sky does not merge the two currencies. TrueBlue points cannot be transferred directly to MileagePlus, and balances remain separate, so each program's balance is redeemed through its own airline.

What the Airlines Say Is Still Coming

As of Oct 12, 2026, these are the items the airlines' 2026 announcements list as still to come:

  • United access to JetBlue slots for up to seven daily round trips at JFK's new Terminal 6, as early as 2027, per the airlines' February 10, 2026 announcement.
  • A single itinerary that includes flights operated by both JetBlue and United, which the airlines said in February and May 2026 they expect to add in the future.

TL;DR – Verdict

As of Oct 12, 2026, Blue Sky lets MileagePlus and TrueBlue members earn and redeem their own currency on the partner airline and gives eligible elites a reciprocal benefit set. Balances stay separate.
