Rainy day at DFW - American Airlines A321 Review

Rainy day at DFW

Overview

This was the second segment of my itinerary from PSP to MSY. My originating flight arrived early, and I changed terminals via the train. With a 90 minute layover, I had just enough time to visit the American Express Centurion lounge.

Booking my American Airlines ticket

This trip was booked with cash. Total cost round trip was $700. My OneWorld Ruby status through British Airways Executive Club got me free Main Cabin Extra seat selection at check-in.

American Airlines A321 Boarding at Dallas/Fort Worth

The flight boarded on time. As per American Airlines standard, they did board by group, but there was no queue for each group. The hoard simply clusters and shuffles as groups are called. The boarding area wasn’t overly crowded thanks to the expansive size of DFW.

American Airlines A321 seat and service

Just like the previous flight on my itinerary, this American Airlines A321 featured the Project: Oasis configuration with 20 first class seats and 170 economy seats (35 Main Cabin Extra). My OneWorld Ruby status (British Airways Executive Club Bronze) status allowed me to choose a MCE seat for free at check-in. I was able to select 11A in the emergency exit row ($62 value).

On American Airlines A321 there's plenty of overhead storage; however, the bins immediately above row 11 are occupied by flight crew equipment. I haven’t used that space yet, but the bins are open indicating they can be used. I was easily able to find a place overhead for my carry on, and I was in group four.

The seats are regularly concave but there is so much space, the concave nature of airline seats hardly seems important. Again, being in row 11, there is more than enough legroom for most travelers. The space also makes it very easy to get out of the row to use the bathroom or stretch your legs.

About an hour after takeoff, there was snack and beverage service. I enjoyed a Bud Light and Biscoff.

Bathroom on American Airlines A321

American Airlines A321 has a very standard bathroom. Like most of the American Airlines flights I’ve been on, the bathroom was well kept and clean.

Conclusion

This was a perfectly pleasant flight with a pleasant service in a great row.
