Grand Hyatt DFW Review

Grand Hyatt DFW Review

Overview

Sometimes when traveling, things don’t go according to plan. That’s how we ended up experiencing the excellent accommodations at the Grand Hyatt in DFW. It was easy and fast to book, there was a restaurant on site (among other amenities), and it was incredibly easy to find and get settled in.

How we ended up staying here

Our flight departing London was severely delayed. We realized we would be very unlikely to make our connection in DFW to PHX. After some investigation, we realized we had two options at the airport, both Hyatts. There were several other airports in the area, but after traveling across the world, we preferred close and easy. That means no shuttle. Since we knew our travel insurance would cover the cost of the overnight delay, we were excited to check out the Grand Hyatt.

Booking

Upon landing in DFW, our next flight had indeed departed without us, and we got started with booking a room for the night. Joe hopped on the Hyatt app, and we were able to book the Hyatt in our terminal within minutes of landing. Prices seemed very reasonable for a last-minute booking at an airport hotel.

Location

The Grand Hyatt DFW was refreshingly easy to get to. After staying at several airport hotels for last minute missed connections or convenient layovers, this hotel was by far the easiest to find and stay in. The need to consider a commute to and from the airport was practically non-existent enabling more sleep and time for recuperation on a long journey.

We picked up our bags, rounded a corner, and saw an escalator to heaven: The Grand Hyatt DFW in Terminal D. It’s conveniently located in the actual airport, no shuttle or train necessary, and it’s steps to the checkin counters, security, and the Flagship Lounge, which were all ideal for our next travel day.

Arrival

We received a warm greet from the front desk attendant. There was no line to check in. It was as though after missing our connection, all other barriers to our travel had been removed and we practically floated through the lobby straight up to our room.

Room

When it comes to the guest room sizes at the Grand Hyatt in DFW, they definitely understand the traveler's need for space. The rooms are precisely the right size to provide comfort with plenty of room for your luggage. You can easily move around without tripping over your bags - a real blessing, especially after an exhausting journey.

The view from the room is something to write home about. As a travel blogger, I am always in search of unique experiences, and the view of the bustling airport from the Grand Hyatt was an unexpected treat. From the train and airplanes to the ground traffic, there was always movement and activity to keep the view interesting. And when the night fell, the lights sparkled like stars on the ground. Despite the active scenery, the rooms were quiet, and the blackout blinds ensured a good night's sleep.

Sleep quality is crucial when you're on the road, and the bed at the Grand Hyatt didn’t disappoint. After a long day filled with unforeseen events, the big, firm, yet fluffy bed felt like a cloud. It was the perfect end to the day, providing well-needed rest and rejuvenation.

Grand Hyatt DFW bathroom

The bathroom, much like the room, was a comfortable size and equipped with standard amenities for personal hygiene. I found it clean, well-organized, and adequately stocked, which is all one really wants in a hotel bathroom.

Storage space is often overlooked in hotel rooms, but not here. There was a closet and dresser, both offering ample space for storage. As we were only there for the night, we didn’t use the drawers much, but the closet was perfect to keep our bags out of the way.

Finally, the in-room amenities were a nice touch. They provided coffee and water in the room and a mini-fridge for our travel snacks – small luxuries that gave a homely feel to the hotel room.

General vibe of the Grand Hyatt DFW

The interior of the hotel was dark and golden. The clientele was a selection of travelers including families with children as well as single or coupled individuals who were traveling for a combination of fun and business. It was mostly quiet with an air of festivity. People seemed comfortable and satisfied to be there like against all odds, they had made it somewhere where they could relax before the next segment of whatever came next.

Hotel bar/restaurant

We enjoyed two vegan burgers at the bar along with a wine and old fashioned respectively. The other bar patrons were polite but playful watching sports and chatting amongst one another. There were a few business travelers dining at high tops and a couple of families with small children at tables and couches respectively. It was a pleasant and mellow atmosphere with the occasional cheer for the team or screech from an infant.

Conclusion

If there’s a need to have a domestic stopover, I will aim for DFW knowing that the Grand Hyatt DFW is there. I hope I miss my connection someday so I can be reunited with the experience of relaxing convenience and comfort offered by this hotel. It was an unexpected exceptional experience considering I had planned to spend that night in my own bed. It was a relief to be there and get a good night's rest and have a breezy next day of travel.
